Norman E. Moore




Norman Eugene ‘Gene’ Moore, 74, of New Franklin passed away Tuesday, May 3rd  at his home with his family at his side.

Visitation for Gene will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening, May 5, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock. Funeral services will be held at Davis Chapel at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 6, 2011 with Rick Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Middletown Methodist Church Cemetery.

Norman Eugene Moore was born April 28, 1937, the son of Joseph Moore and Hazel Gibson Moore. He married Joyce Elaine James on June 13, 1959 in the Wellsville Methodist Church. Gene was a member of the Methodist Church in Vandalia, MO. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2730, of Columbia. He was awarded the State Grand Father of the year, this year, and he has held numerous offices on the local, district and state levels. Gene moved to New Franklin from Vandalia twelve years ago where he continued his career as owner of Gene Moore Concrete for the past forty five years. In his spare time he loved camping with his family and playing golf.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Todd Eugene Moore, by a brother, Harold Moore and a sister, Louise Allen, as well as a niece, Kimberly Moore. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home, his daughter, Cynthia Ann Hendrix of New Franklin; by his sister-in-law, Shirley Moore of Ferguson, MO as well as his nieces, Helen Marie Burnett of St. Louis, Sharon Ruebl, of St. Louis and Sandy Fawcett of O’Fallon, MO. and a nephew, Robert Moore, of Miami, FL. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Sara Moore, of Mexico, MO, Tiffany and Ashley Hendrix of New Franklin and his great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Hendrix.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that memorials be made to the family so that they can distribute to several charities of their choice.
