Raymond E. Newell


Raymond Ewing Newell 82 of Prairie Home passed away unexpectedly Monday morning February 13, 2012 at his home.

Visitation for Raymond will be Wednesday evening February 15 from 6 to 8P.M. at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10A.M. Thursday morning February 16 at Davis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lewis Odneal officiating. Burial will follow in Copps Chapel Cemetery near Wooldridge.

Raymond Ewing Newell was born January 23, 1930 in Boonville, MO. the son of Leslie Newell and Lydia Merritt Newell.  He married Shirley Small on December 13, 1952 in Boonville, Missouri. They are the parents of four children. Raymond worked as a farm hand for Sid Walters for over 25 years. Raymond loved the outdoors as this showed in his passion for hunting and fishing. The love of his life was his family especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Jack, Junior and Ronnie Newell as well as two sisters; Audrey Hatfield and Betty Alford. He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home, two sons; Kenneth Douglas Newell (Ellen) of Aurora, MO. and Henry Ray Newell  (Linda) of Leslie, MO., two daughters; Lynda Faye Newell and Patricia Ann Burnett (Terry) both of Boonville, MO. Also surviving are four sister; Evelyn Jenkins of Sturgeon, MO., Laverne Becker (Carl) of Milan, MO., Dolly Maxine Kaiser (Ed) and Peggy Thacker (Emmett) of Henderson Texas. He also leaves behind four grandkids; Kim Taylor and Angie Bishop of Pilot Grove, MO. and Jeremiah Newell and Ashley Greer of Boonville, MO., Rachael Dodson of the state of California and eight great-grandkids.
